A183 Coast Road South of South Shields |
Once an archway of stone, cut off
at high tide, it now is just a single stump anfter part of
it came crashing down. You can view it from the clifftop or
descend to the beach. Those who do not wish to climb down
to it via steep steps can use the lift at the Grotto Public
House. Built in 1782 the unique hostelry was hewn from the
rock. |
