You can take your car to Mainland Europe by Ferry.
There are daily sailings to Amsterdam (Ijmuiden) with DFDS Seaways.
Note: Services to Scandinavia were stopped in Auguist 2008

Ferries dock at North Shields which is 8 miles from Newcastle city centre.

Bus service 327 serves all ferry arrivals and departures. It links the ferry terminal with Newcastle coach and rail stations.
DFDS Bus departs NEWCASTLE TRAIN STATION 2½ and 1¼ hours before sailing.
