North Shields Fish Quay

The North Shields Fish Quay was once one of the most important ports on the East Coast. It's still active and you can see the boats unload their haul straight into the fishmarket. It won't be long before the fish and seafood end up on a pate in a nearby restaurant.

Along the Quayside there are lots of places to eat, from high end restaurants to Fish & Chip emporiums.

There's a lot of local seafaring history here, look out for the notice boards that will point to the attractions on view.

Best travel option:

You can walk from the North Shields Metro station or the North Shields Ferry Landing (15 mins) but as the fish quay is at river level and the town is up on a steep bank you might prefer the bus.

Route 333 & Seas are circular routes connecting the town centre with the ferry landing and the fish quay (And Tynemouth).
