This iconic Tyneside landmark was built in 1910 and beneath the gleaming white dome there was ballroom. Having lain derelict for decades it has been fully refurbished and is now home to restaurants and bars. Originally it was part of a huge funfair, which many locals will remember from their childhood, it was made famous in the Dire Straits song "Tunnel of Love".
